2021 Ram 2500
One of the highlights of the 2021 Ram 2500 is its power. But this heavy-duty pickup truck is much more than a beast on the road. Read on to discover why this year's model is equal parts reliability and comfort.
Trim Levels
The 2021 Ram 2500 is available in six trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. The truck also features varying cab and bed lengths. For example, depending on the trim level, you can opt for the regular cab with an 8-foot box; a crew cab with a 6-foot, 4-inch box; a crew cab with an 8-foot box; or a mega cab with a 6-foot, 4-inch box. Additionally, all models are available with four-wheel or two-wheel drive, except for the Power Wagon, which is only equipped with four-wheel drive.
Most trim levels come with black heated mirrors with courtesy lamps, supplemental signals, and running lights, while the upper trim levels' mirrors include the power-folding feature. All Ram 2500s use trailer-tow mirrors for better rearview vision while towing. Other standard exterior features on most trim levels include automatic headlamps, fog lamps, active grille shutters, tinted glass windows, and a locking tailgate.
Engine
The 2021 Ram 2500 features two types of engines. The standard engine on all models is the 6.4-liter V-8 heavy-duty HEMI MDS engine, which puts out 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. Still, you can upgrade most trim levels with the available 6.7-liter I-6 Cummins turbo diesel engine, which delivers 420 horsepower and an impressive 1,075 pound-feet of torque.
The standard transmission on all Ram 2500 variants is an eight-speed automatic transmission, though most trim levels can be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The 2021 Ram 2500 is great for towing. When outfitted with the V-8 HEMI engine, it can tow between 9,470 pounds and 17,350 pounds. With the I-6 Cummins engine, it can tow items weighing anything from 12,480 pounds to 20,000 pounds. Standard towing features on all trim levels include a seven-pin wiring harness and Class V receiver hitch. The trailer camera prep with trailer camera wiring is an available feature that you can install on your trailer for better performance. The upper trim levels also come with tow hooks.
Interior
The 2021 Ram 2500 can seat between two and six people. The Regular Cab can seat two to three passengers, while the Crew Cab and Mega Cab can seat five to six passengers.
The infotainment system in the Ram 2500 varies by trim level. The Tradesman and the Big Horn feature Uconnect 3 and a 5-inch display, the Laramie and the Power Wagon have Uconnect 4 with an 8.4-inch display, the Limited Longhorn has Uconnect 4C with navigation and an 8.4-inch display, and the Limited has Uconnect with navigation and a 12-inch display. Other standard features on the infotainment system include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, integrated voice command with Bluetooth connectivity, an audio jack input for mobile devices, and a remote USB port. Upper trim levels add HD radio and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot capability.
Safety Features
The 2021 Ram 2500 offers several available safety features, such as reverse guidance with split-screen view, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, trailer reverse steering control, trailer sway control, and adaptive cruise control.
