Snow and Your Brake Pads: Why You Should Service Your Vehicle

Snow is pretty, and snow can give children a great deal of joy. Adults do not typically really bother with snow unless they like to ski. People who have to drive do not want to spend a lot of time in the snow. People who possess a driver’s license need to worry about their car’s braking power in inclement weather.

What device gives a car most of its braking power? Friction. What supplies the car with most of its friction to stop? Braking power. There are other items that contribute to how quickly a car can stop, including road conditions and tire tread. The brake pads simply apply friction to the wheels. They cannot do this as well when the tires cannot grip the road as well. Snow is one of the many conditions that can cause this problem; there are many other weather conditions that reduce a car’s breaking power.
