5 Signs Your CDJR Vehicle Needs a Radiator Repair From Your Chrysler Dealer

If your vehicle is overheating, there’s a puddle of coolant near your vehicle, or there’s some discoloration under your car hood, then you most likely need a radiator repair. Let’s look at the signs in depth so you know when to head to the Chrysler dealer.

5 Signs Your CDJR Vehicle Needs a Radiator Repair From Your Chrysler Dealer

1. Discoloration Under Your Hood

Discoloration under your hood can be a sign of a coolant leak. This discoloration will only be in small spots. These spots are where coolant has squirted out of one of the hoses in your cooling system and landed on the hot components of your radiator or engine. The heat of the parts under the hood caused the coolant to sizzle away quickly, taking the paint with it. This results in discoloration.

2. Discoloration of Your Coolant

Coolant is supposed to be bright. You’ll often see it in shades of red, yellow, or green. However, the coolant darkens when it goes bad, so it will eventually turn black or brown. If your coolant is brown or black, then it’s time to visit the dealer for some maintenance.

3. Coolant Puddle

If you spot any of the brightly colored fluid mentioned above on the ground near your vehicle, then you need to check your coolant level. If your coolant level is low and the bright puddle smells sweet, then it’s almost definitely coolant, and you need to have the leak in your cooling system repaired swiftly.

4. Overheating Engine

When your engine overheats, it usually means there’s a problem with your cooling system. You might just have a low coolant level, but if the engine keeps overheating when you get your coolant level topped off, then you could have a more serious issue with your cooling system. You’ll notice your engine is overheating if your temperature gauge tells you that your car is much too hot or if white steam comes out from under the hood.

5. Low Coolant Level

Check your coolant level often to make sure it never drops too low. Always do this when your car’s engine is completely cold. If your coolant level is low, then visit the dealer. Your dealer can top the level off with the right coolant for your vehicle. If the coolant level has decreased rapidly or seems too low based on when you had your last coolant top-off, then you may have a leak that’s causing your low coolant level, so the dealer will need to repair it.
