The 2022 Dodge Durango makes excursions in and around Dickinson, ND to enjoy kid-friendly activities along the road a breeze. With three rows of seating, your kids will have plenty of room, and the excellent safety and security features will keep you safe.  

1. Explore the Badlands Dinosaur Museum

With its ever-evolving hands-on science exhibits, the awe-inspiring Badlands Dinosaur Museum will entertain the kids for hours. Here they can see skeletons of Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Thescelosaurus, and Tyrannosaur rex, the newly discovered armored dinosaur from northern Montana, baby dinosaurs, and eggs. The fossil Laboratory has a sliding window that allows the kids to watch and talk to the lab’s people as they prepare fossils.

The Badlands Dinosaur Museum is in the 12-acre Dickinson Museum Center. The center is also home to Outpost Park, the Joachim Region History Museum, and the Pioneer Machinery Hall, where the kids can learn more about the area’s history through interactive exhibits, a collection of 18-century artifacts, photographs, and historic buildings.

Badlands Dinosaur Museum is at 188 Museum Drive East in Dickinson and is open from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

2. Go on a Scenic Drive Through Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Pile the kids and their favorite eats and treats in the car and take them on a scenic drive through Theodore Roosevelt National Park, 37 miles away in Medora, where the 48-mile South Unit Scenic Drive begins and ends.

Stop at the overlooks with exhibits on the history and landscape and keep your eyes peeled for horses, elk, coyotes, and especially the herd of about 300 bison along the way. The drive takes about two hours if you stop to look at the scenery and enjoy some of the activities.

The Theodore Roosevelt National Park is at 315 Second Avenue in Medora and is open daily all year round.

3. See the Sculptures Along the Enchanted Highway

The Enchanted Highway stretches for 32 miles between Regent and Gladstone is a road trip your kids will love. Catch glimpses of giant metal roadside art along the country highway, such as the enormous 75-foot-tall buck, and pull over at Geese in Flight, believed to be the largest scrap metal sculpture in the world.

There is a  gigantic grasshopper, a 70-foot-tall trout, and 40-foot-tall rooster, and a massive hen with two chicks. The trip’s highlights must be the giant Theodore Roosevelt with a coach and horses and the world’s biggest tin family. On your way back, stop at the gift shop in Regent and buy miniatures of each giant artwork and have a delicious bite to eat at the Enchanted Castle before heading home.
